why i left twitter
i was a part of the mastodon wave that came when donald trump was elected and twitter forced my account to unblock and *follow* him
i only ever log on there to check in on friends or see cute pics now, very rarely
i'm glad to be here, i did not expect to be a part of such a tightknit community
why i left twitter
@AdalwinAmillion i created awoo.space because it was clear that there was a need for a more limited space that took a much more intentional approach to federation
i also hoped to stymy some problems with racism and other bad isms with the space, while also creating a space that respected identity yet fostered a place to grow for folks who engage genuinely & in good faith, and somehow it turned into the furry server :thumbsup_clw_g1:

@vahnj im so glad these things happened because it helped me meet so many good and supportive and kind people and that is worth letting twitter burn itself down

On Twitter we would all have to go through our shit more or less alone
But here we have so many people willing to help us and make us stronger
@TheyCallMeMo on twitter you have to constantly be on guard
someone who's been nice to you one day might next day decide they don't like you any more, even if they don't unfollow or anything they'll just stop talking to you or start talking about you behind your back
that is super rare here
