I just remembered a reality show called “The Swan” where they took a bunch of ugly women and gave them cosmetic surgery and made them lose weight and they’d get a makeover and then at the end the winner was whoever turned out most beautiful. Isn’t that horrible??

It is.

Though I've long struggled with (and recently had success with) weight loss in the hopes of making me feel better about myself--I resent that I felt it was necessary, and especially that anyone else has to feel the same.

It applies likewise for other superficial pursuits. If a person wants to do it of their own volition, fine--if it's compelled by--and in attempts to appease--societal pressure...it's garbage.

@vyruem Thank you for that deep response. I had to read it a couple times for it to sink in. My aunt wished she could go on one of those shows and she was a beautiful aunt I don't get it.
