@kistaro Work.. I can manage.. strangers I can manage.. like I can talk with and get people to talk to me for hours without them realizing time has gone by. I just.. feel like.. before all the bad shit that happened at early part of this decade I could just.. easily slip into friendships and acquaintances. Now that feels.. disconnected? Some of my oldest friends and relationships just feel gone.. or like I'm there because I was there back in the day and I'm missing the connections I had..

Bleh... feeling really alone and out of place today.. like I don't know where I fit in..anywhere.. or if I'm just some artifact of a different time in various social circles.

@kistaro Ugh... my gaming rig is Windows 10 Pro/Ubuntu dual boot because proton kinda sucks. new laptop shipped with Windows 10 home... and ew... ew I need to fix it...

Welp... old manager can't spare me until the 4th...

So instead I'll just be in the office a lot more and crosstraining during days I'm not on pagerduty..

With the number of short interrupt outages and a few long outages we had here I wish that was an option.

Ooof... just got out of a meeting with my soon to be manager and new team leader. Transition date went from May 6th.. to Monday in theory.. but that does not jive with conversation I had with my current manager earlier today!

Hngg.. being up at 9am and in the office around 9:30am on Monday is gonna be rough since I'm working 1pm-8pm on Friday..

@kelseyhusky I can't find the name of the damn device and it is sitting on my desk at the office while I'm at the DC fighting with a cassandra node... but I inherited this nifty ipod shaped device with a flash drive LCD and thumb wheel and stripped down linux running on it that you can dump bootable ISO to and then select them and connect over usb to boot off.

It is absurdly useful and i have no idea who made it or what it is called off the top of my head. I replaced the flash drive in it with a 64GB one and tossed bootable images and installers of every flavor of *nix we use in our prod environment + finnix and gmrl for doing diagnostics and file system repair on systems without remove access.

@mawr Yikes.... at least it will be resolved... but ooof on the cost :(

Genny cut-over is good... especially since you can have a lot of options for that and eventually things like a battery backup in between... given your location... probably want CNG or Diesel when you can swing it.

weeee... 2.5 hours of meetings starting 2 hours before my shit usually starts... great way to start the day..

also... did not sleep much. so much waking up last night.. almost hourly
