@mawr Tis why the struggle of "not enough monitoring" or "too much monitoring" is a forever battle
Re: prison: abolitionism
@mawr I was literally about to post something to effect.
The US prison system is basically an industrialized c-pstd machine.
@mawr Thermodynamics be like that!
Honestly, picking up a big, portable evaporative cooler was a life saver before we moved somewhere with central AC.
@mawr Oooh...no :(
Okay.. that is rad.. and stuff...
@anthracite Happy Hatchday!
@fluxom_alt Honestly... I love the broomstick rifle... just like.. damn.

@mawr :(
Why stand against Transphobes and Fascists?
When they gather for a rally like this, they're waging a turf war.
They're trying to establish an "unsafe space" so to speak- they do this by turning out in numbers. Just like any protest, the more people that show on their side, the more emboldened the movement becomes to take further action.
If the movement is overwhelmed by opposition early on in a given region, they're less likely to return to that region.
We Keep Us Safe! Come help!
Going to protest TERFs, Transphobes, Racists, or Fascists? Things you should know!
• If you're going, bring a friend! The buddy system helps you both keep each other safe. Go to and from the protest together and keep your eyes and ears open.
• Carpool & don't park nearby.
• When you and your buddy leave, take a meandering path. Maybe stop somewhere public that isn't home for a while before you actually go home.
• Bring noisemakers, and signs/flags, water and a snack!
Going to protest TERFs, Transphobes, Racists, or Fascists? Things you should know! (2)
• Wear clothing that isn't immediately identifiable; eg, don't wear your favorite jacket.
• Bring pepper spray, but only use it to get away (run!) from danger if you're under active threat. Test it before you need it!
• Always keep an exit open and stick close to allies. Bullies look for stragglers: don't be one.
• Ask your allies for literally anything you need- they should be there to help!
(Solid coinage, IMO. "Rentropy", the acceleration towards failure as rent-seeking escalates.)
If you think that what's happening to Reddit today can't or won't happen to Github or Jira or your CI tools tomorrow, buckle up.
Community accessibility and disaster recovery are the same thing. You don't think so until you've had a laptop stolen or a critical vendor silently go dark; then you learn that the thing you built to help new community members install your product and your dev env in one step is the same thing that will save you from the rentropy of a suddenly extortive dependency.
hey did you know I spent 2011-2015 doing a crazy graphic novel about a robot lady dragged outside of reality by her ex-boyfriend? It's all free online, or you can still buy a printed copy.

if you are on a phone then turn it sideways please, it's a very horizontal sort of affair that runs multiple color-coded timelines in parallel.
Shape and form may vary but the pattern of information remains consistent across most known platforms and vessels. Accounting for unknown hosts remains irksome.
