Thought experiment: What if it were made illegal for parent companies to brand their products without the parent company name listed first?

@mawr

I LIKE THIS A LOT

Oh fuck this.... another invite... to a thing...

fucking Hors d'oeuvre with the Executives.... starting an hour and half after I usually leave the office for the tomorrow... grah

I was one of two people not in an official leadership role at the dinner but my director invited me... so eh...

Hnngg.... why is peopling around coworkers so exhausting?

I vaguely regret attending work paid dinner (had some tasty fish tacos), specially since I had a semi-valid excuse to avoid it (had some dental work done today). I get along well and like my team mates and a few other coworkers... but dinner with literally ever single manager in our organization was mentally exhausting.

"Light the beacons when you need our aid, and we shall come!"
With that, they left.
Years passed in peace. The beacons, once looked after, were at last forgotten, unlit.
The monitoring satellite left in Earth's orbit by the aliens still watches, ready to relay a call for aid.

Half balked image idea: "new queer revolution" playing with queer symbolism and mushroom clouds

Contrary to popular belief, so-called mad scientists do not habitually set out to create monsters. Any monsters created are delightful surprises.
But this time, Dr Dastard built a monster on purpose. He animated it, then put it under his bed.
"Here, I made you a friend."

Bleh

Just ready for today to be over.
Exhausted.. head hurts and just feeling on the outside of everything...

And I'm watching a social circle I'm adjacent about to implode because of the same people, doing the same shit they did 7-8 years ago. The only difference is I'm on the outside.

Remember: If you're going to void a kobold's warranty, do it in style. 😈

Western culture makes it hard to change your name. But picking a name is an important part of defining who you are.

So, prospective parents, give your kids Powerful Names. Names with a lot of nicknames to choose from, names with a dozen middle parts for them to try on as they grow.

At every all gender swim I've been too, there is a cadre of young PoC that latch on to me when they seem me throw tricks off the diving board. And there's usually at least one other swimmer that is diving too besides me Its nice to have something in common with people. And I get to encourage little kids to be brave.

What's really nice is that they are so eager to come talk to me. They aren't scared at all, or questioning or suspicious.

That was the most lovely thing that happened today.

reminder: door-to-door campaigners, like all salespeople, exploit social norms of politeness and hospitality to force you to listen to a sales pitch. you owe them nothing, not even a single word. Even if you support their candidate, there is *absolutely nothing wrong* with shutting your door in their face.

Gender, Scifi, Body Mod, Violence

This was a seriously interesting read.
Yes, it opens with an attack helicopter joke but it inverts it quite well.

What is 'a lot of work?'" (cw: late state capitalism) [4/4]

Your friendly off-topic conversations with co-workers count, too; that's called "building a culture of positivity at the workplace" and is invaluable to the working class-- just not to capitalism. :blobangery:

All of that shit is you putting your heart, mind, and soul into something. :blob_aww:

The only reason it doesn't feel rewarding is the horrendously toxic economic culture surrounding it. :bloboh:

That time you stayed 2 hours after the end of your shift to fix something you fucked up? That's putting in extra effort. (Anyone who would tell you otherwise is a bootlicker. On healthy teams, fuckups are opportunities for everyone involved to learn something. The whole team offers the hand up, any necessary lessons are learned, and everyone is better off for it, but I digress. :blob_grinning_sweat: )

Honestly, I wouldn't call that a lot of work, I'd call that a _fuckton_ of work.

and when the end product doesn't seem to justify the effort it took to produce, that's just late stage capitalism drilling into your very fucking soul "you are worthless unless you have something tangible to capitalism to show for your efforts."

I'm here to tell you that is fucking BULLSHIT, and that Your Every Individual Contribution Counts.

What is 'a lot of work?'" (cw: late state capitalism) [1/4]

A burned out friend of mine said, after listing a huge list of accomplishments, "I have no concept of what is 'a lot of work'" - so I thought I'd help explain. :blobowo:

"a lot of work" is what happens when you stop and think about the past 3 years of your life and you realize a lot of them are a blur because you spent so much of them furiously working the problems of multiple conflicting deadlines that a lot of it looks the same.
