YES!!! MY PROPOSAL TO ALTER OUR ONCALL ROTATION SO THAT ONCALL ONLY GOT PAGED DURING OFF HOURS AND NOT WHILE OTHER PEOPLE ARE THE OFFICE MET WITH UNANIMOUS APPROVAL! Downside... I have to handle pagerduty from 4pm-7pm whether I'm oncall or not..
Upside.. no more being woken up at 5am because someone forgot to downtime a box they were working on!

This is kinda of interesting
Having fresh tumeric to put in instead of ground really makes the flavors pop out... so tasty. Chicken Garam Malasa (Mawrsala @mawr ) And saffron rice (ground saffron, bay, pepper, chicken broth and jasmine rice blended with a little short grain brown for texture)
Argh... entire day wasted because someone didn't read my fucking ticket notes and ignored literally everything I said to them in person.. Fixed what they mistakenly believed was the problem then hand the box back to me and told me it should be good and asked me to rack it again.
It is almost like... I know wtf I'm talking about and when I suggest something.. and you are a dev not a opsfolk... YOU SHOULD LISTEN!
OMG @mawr what happened?! Did you fall in a vat of pink cloth dye?

Bleh... today has been rough on my hands.. I need hands upgrade... now to go not think about while playing an AGI raptor bot with no hands (Yay for Eclipse Phase)
But if someone knows were I can get a good deal on some drop in storm dragon replacements, please let me know. Will trade slightly used human hands.
So while searching our cages and auditing them I noticed a box that looked hell of a lot like the box I was looking for in the IT cage (badge access only) but I could not read the label, it was too far away.
About an hour later the IT DCO manager calls me as he is rushing up to the datacenter to give me my damned box.
It turns out that after filing the notice to ops of a security issue. and ops sorting out a plan to address it (patch then replace)
Security team went filed an IT decom request (IT is not supposed to touch our stuff and vice versa but this box was in a cage IT has to pass through to get to thier cage). The IT datacenter manager took it on himself to decom the box. Which was shortly before the director of ops hit me up to find out wtf happened to this system.
I do not have enough WTFs for this today. Yesterday around 2pm a system went off line. The ops director asked me to check it out since I'd be at the Colo it was in. Is just gone. Cables still in rack.
Much wtfing later, search all of our cages in this datacenter... and jira and everything else.. Yes box is marked for decom but not until new hardware is deployed replace it (which I know it's not because that ticket is assigned to me....)
Shape and form may vary but the pattern of information remains consistent across most known platforms and vessels. Accounting for unknown hosts remains irksome.
