@wolfgang ohh, that's fun, my brain had not connected the dots here between accent and IPA/pronunciation so im sitting here trying to read it with my very much monolingual midwest american english struggling because i temporarily forgot other dialects and languages exist

@SamIO most american english accents do insert a y sound there, but some southern accents just really lengthen it :)

@SamIO back when i could still speak, i remember distinctly that after code switching with hebrew, id find myself sometimes saying /-æŋ/ without the /j/ and i always thought it made me sound fake british for that syllable
