...post-apocalyptic video game where you run a library and your goal is to keep the collection safe so people have ongoing access to it
this means:
- making sure library staff have places to sleep, food to eat, water to drink, and sanitary facilities
so you have enough people to
- keep up maintenance
- reshelve books
- catch problems (e.g. leaks, mold) before they become catastrophic
- teach newcomers how to use the library
- spot thieves (and hopefully talk them into using the library properly)
- &c.
which probably means
- making housing in and near the library
- growing food near the library
- mustering support from other survivors (either because they love libraries, as most people do, and you show yourself to be a good custodian or out of some mutually beneficial arrangement, e.g. "you can camp here with your horse and carriage on your way through in exchange for a sack of food")
- and so on
some possible library staff stats:
- extraversion: how long they can spend interacting with non-staff (e.g. working circulation desk) before getting tired
- charm: how much they cheer up patrons and/or fellow staff just by interacting with them, how well they can charm thieves, how well they can cut deals
- athleticism: how long they can spend on physically intensive activities (e.g. shelving) before getting tired
- reading speed: how quickly they can do reading and writing tasks (e.g. information desk)
and skills:
- Page: can reshelve books
- Cataloguer: can manage the collection, adding new books and culling items that don't belong, like duplicates (either by storing out of the circulation area or by selling in a booksale)
- Bookbinder: can repair damaged books
@packbat Possible inspiration?

(Be warned, if you track it down on Youtube— it's charming, it's nostalgic, it's not necessarily *good*.)
@zebratron2084 heh - I'm not familiar, but that seems totally viable as inspiration, yeah!
