I wonder how long it will take the players to realize the Johnson keeps hiring runners to put a hit on the Johnson's other identities. Or if they'll realize it.

So they figured out there was something wrong with the Johnson when another team of runners rushed in to carry out a similar job on their employer.
But they didn't get enough clues to figure out what their deal was.
They managed to make the target dance itself to destruction, and saved/abducted, threw back, the drone that hired them.
Also they accidentally caused a minor banshee related incident, and ran away from a riot tank drone.

They're a design nerd working freelance under multiple identities using personality on a chip to keep things separated. (and not sleeping)
But they've come to the same solution under two identities. Neither of which knows about the other. So upon seeing each other's work they put out a hit thinking the other stole their design.
Since the players opted for the slow sabotage they're going to see another group attempt to whack the johnson's drone before their plan goes off.
