Am sick of all these rent-seekers who want to steal my patrons' info while NOT HELPING me grow my audience.
• Patreon burns through venture capital (twice!) but they pay to have their top 5% go to conventions, not even extending an invite to the rest... when they're not actively looking for ways to dump them.
• Youtube tries to de-vet their "verified" base, while trying to woo celebrities to their platform. Algorithms actively hostile to fringe content.
• Backerkit offers to charge 15% or more to "leverage your fanbase" with Adsense and Facebook... despite how one could just buy those ads direct.
It's exhausting how they barely even front. Social media was supposed to help us reach new audiences and to grow under-served content. But every influencer company I talk to, they just want the top 5%. If I could make a top-tier audience myself, I wouldn't NEED help growing my base.
