a frustration I've been having with mastodon is that especially when compared against twitter(which is definitely a dumpsterfire don't get me wrong) it's a lot harder to get validation when you need it because the expected toolset for expressing that you're having a rough time, CWs, also... often dramatically minimizes the chances of anyone interacting with it in any way. when your only options besides direct interaction are to 'boost' or 'fave' someone's mental illness, there are barriers.

@hystericempress If it's any consolation, I get the same feels from this place and it's taken a LOT of work to adjust for the different population and mechanics leading to a lot more silence. *hug*

@zebratron2084 Yeah. It's still MUCH better than twitter for my mental health, which is Too Much Engagement, but paradoxically, now I'm back to that LJ-era vibe of 'I can talk all I want but nobody's gonna click on it.'

@hystericempress I keep getting tempted to head back to Twitter, but if I can start scraping together a decent social circle down here—or find somewhere online where I feel like I can actually talk TO instead of AT my old friends—that'll probably fend that urge off.
