Dammit Rick and Morty is still extremely well plotted and scripted and it's every bit as buttheadedly male powertrip centric as it was before.
I think I'm gonna keep watching it but I'm gonna hate myself a little and this is probably the last you'll hear about the show here for a long, long time.
Wish we had enough time to make fun of R&M in the comic but we just don't. I guess having a female lead who's not a trophy/comic foil is rebuttal enough. -_-

@mmsword I kinda wish there were an Adventures of Beth and Summer and Sometimes Morty Is There Too edit. -_-

@mmsword @zx3 @zebratron2084 That was sort of my fall-off spot as well. I stuck with Bojack because the text of the series is 'Bojack is trying to be a better person and fucks up, sometimes disastrously,' but with Rick Sanchez, the text is 'Rick never even tries to be better and will continue to be an absolute prick no matter what problems it causes.' It's the lack of effort that put me off.

@hystericempress @mmsword @zx3 I've been thinking about this, and I mean... they could even have preserved the black comedy of the show by having Rick find genuine enlightenment and remorse, admit that he's been fucking it all up and his philosophy is narcissistic and bankrupt... and then have some random mishap reset him to his old self. That would've been fine. It would have at least confirmed for us: Rick-as-he-is is no oppressed hero, he's a fuckup.
