good (if very small scale) trans news for once, family, xmas (+++)
My family was SO GOOD to Peg. My mom outed her to my stepdad a couple months ago—and I approved, it was about time he knew what the deal was with us—and they were both ABSOLUTELY PERFECT towards her. Not a word of doubt or disapproval, 100/100 pronoun score, absolutely hospitable and kind in every way.
There IS hope for Ohio. It's NOT what you've been told. At least, not always. But then, my parents have always had the "If it makes you happy, it's fine" approach.

OTOH, I failed at my first Rhetoric skill roll for the "Persuade Mom To Hold Her Nose And Vote Democrat" test. She hates Trump but absolutely could not be convinced he's any more loathsome or corrupt than the Democrats—though she did at least agree that he's less competent at it, and a slightly bigger asshole on the personal level.
C'est la vie. I've shrugged and defended far-leftist friends for refusing to stray from a third-party vote before. I don't see why my mom should deserve any less of a defense—and frankly, I share her low, low opinion of Biden and Warren.
Personally, I WILL be holding my nose and voting for whatever pile of careerist garbage the DNC serves up this year instead of Bernie. And I will keep working on Mom. I hope it's at least some reassurance that this seems to be a majority opinion in Ohio: Trump isn't _good_, he's just business as usual. My mom's Boomer crowd is not falling for him by any means.
