birdsite thread, 90s web comics
I don't know the person doing this thread of Hot Takes About 90s Web Comics but I haven't caught them in a single false step yet.

The observation about Latex Blue is a masterpiece.

not wrong.
I have kind of wondered what ever happened to the writer and artist of latex blue.
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@001zlnv @Austin_Dern Man, Dragonfly was a truly COLOSSAL nutcase... -_-
Someday remind me to tell you about the one time I tried to scene with them.
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@Austin_Dern @001zlnv Oh, I certainly had my opinions about Dragonfly and I think they were pretty public, but the fact I actually lowered myself to scening with someone with such icky politics was a Deep Dark Secret...
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
I had completely forgotten about their politics.
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@001zlnv @Austin_Dern I sparred with them a LOT. They had some really really nasty political ideas -- literally "why can't we let the poor just die off" at one point -- to the point where I can kinda forgive them because it really really seemed like a direct consequence of a genuine personality/emotional/behavioral disorder.
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@001zlnv @Austin_Dern And that's pretty much how the scene on Tapestries went too. Fascinatingly weird ideas; absolutely zero idea of how to play with another person in the room. I basically got kinky stories told at me at great speed and force, and they were utterly oblivious to any interest, emotional engagement, ideas, or preference of mine whatsoever. They were *nice* enough, I guess, and being turned into an inflatable life raft was kind of interesting, but... Yeah. It really felt like there was a significant chunk of what I would consider "person-ness" missing from Dragonfly's brain and I can't even be mad at them.
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
interesting. I never wrote fast enough to be able to get into the muck thing
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@001zlnv @zebratron2084 Well, so, there's a silver lining to the general decline in muck population and how much of the community spends their time distracted ...
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@zebratron2084 @001zlnv That is a shame. Does seem like they'd have a great number of fine ideas even if they needed some emotional moderating fluid.
(I say this knowing that I run towards 'great concept but why should a person care' myself.)
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@zebratron2084 @001zlnv Oh yeahhh ... wait. I think I remember seeing one installment come with an essay about how Well Actually poverty was created *by* the minimum wage since it kept the disableds(tm) from working. If I'm remembering right. I regret my error if I'm maligning the cartoonist.
I gave the libertarian Avro Arrow morph a berth on her 'there wouldn't be endangered animals if people owned and farmed them' soapbox, but some stuff ...
re: birdsite thread, 90s web comics
@zebratron2084 @001zlnv Oh, *that* sort of scene. Well, we all have strange experiences in our pasts.
