re: all cops are bastards and that includes your favorite fictional cop, Rolling Stone article
@LexYeen@snouts.online OK, I'm *really* relieved that article was less extreme in context, because y'all are gonna pry my BluRay of the original Wicker Man out of my cold dead hands. ;p (I might give up Hot Fuzz, but you'd have to bribe me. >_< )
Seriously, I'm glad they specifically mentioned what they wanted is subjecting these shows/characters to intense criticism, not disappearing them outright because they meet a single subject-matter flag, with no regard for context or subversive value. That would have been a *tremendous* sticking point for me and I would've ended up feeling sour for the rest of the day.
Anyhow, I ended up agreeing with it, so thanks for sharing it! I actually went on a bender of crime-procedural shows a couple months ago and... god, most of them were functioning on such a naive ideological level I ended up running screaming. I couldn't even handle Monk. -_-

@LexYeen@snouts.online Oh, also, the Shield and The Wire. We... kinda need both of those, especially The Wire. It's more like a sociological text than a cop show.
