US Pol (--)

Holy shit, this is terrifying.

I need to stop looking at the developing news, but being ignorant of it feels completely irresponsible and utterly naive.

re: US Pol (--)

@Phorm Just remember it's got a huge magnifying lens effect... It's a quiet day in most of America and there are a lot of forces with selfish personal interests in amplifying this as much as possible... *hugs tight*

@zebratron2084

Yeah, for sure. I realize that you're right. It's just that - So many other people are having this stuff amplified into their brains directly.

It rather makes me scared, because more than a few are going to take it to an extreme.

But... For now I'm just keeping my head down and hoping that this won't be used as an excuse to round up "undesirable" people. *Hugs tightly*

@Phorm Yeah. I don't want to diminish it -- bad things are going to happen. But hell, even in the *actual Civil War* bad things didn't happen everywhere all the time.

It was actually quite a mental turning point for me: when I was in college I took a 20th-c Russia class and we read "Ten Days That Shook The World."

Prior to that I had never really read anything about what it was like for normal civilians during a revolution or a war, and I just kinda assumed it was just hardship and murder every day all the time, and life shut down completely until the crisis was over.

It blew my mind to read descriptions of people going to the Moscow opera and shopping for groceries and whatnot, right in the middle of Big Ugly History...
