Random quiz inspired by a Twitter thread:

You've been chosen to draft a Secret Wars-style superteam of seven of humanity's greatest fictional friends, to save us for all time from The Great Moral Darkness. They must be chosen for their utter goodness and capacity to foment love and redemption.

My recruits:
Danny the Street (Doom Patrol)
Vir Cotto (Babylon 5)
Aunt Beast (A Wrinkle In Time)
The Log Lady (Twin Peaks)
Dᴇᴀᴛʜ (Discworld)
Bokonon (Cat's Cradle)
St. Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes)

Yours?

@zebratron2084 Not sure how to count this since he may need a band for backup, but Jeremy Hillary Boob has some serious moves.

@zebratron2084 OK, so:

- Mr Rogers (Mr Rogers' Neighborhood; granting he-as-on-camera isn't quite fictional)
- Jeremy Hillary Boob, PhD (Yellow Submarine)
- Button-Bright (Wizard of Oz books)
- Dr McCoy (Star Trek: TOS)
- Harry Gergich (Parks & Rec)
- Porky Pine (Pogo)
- Big Bird (Sesame Street)

@zebratron2084 (It's probably self-revealing that of my seven, two are grumps and three are incompetents who carry on anyway.)

@zebratron2084 If Mr Rogers is illegitimate, swap in the Ghost of Christmas Present (A Christmas Carol).

@zebratron2084 Late-breaking bulletin: I'm not sure who to bump out to replace with Arthur Christmas. Eh, I guess Terry Gergich, he can take it.

@zebratron2084

Derek Flint (Our Man Flint)
Barbarella (Barbarella)
Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins)
Pinkie Pie (My Little Pony)
Emphyrio (Emphyrio)
The Ghost of Christmas Present (A Christmas Carol)
Peter Paas (Peter and the Magic Egg)

@xinjinmeng Apparently Joanna Russ compared Emphyrio to a Bertold Brecht play and I think now I have to find a copy...

@zebratron2084

It's very good. It's a sci-fi novel about creators' rights.

gotta agree on Vir, I'd probably move him up to team leader.

Hellboy, ironically an amazingly good person

Kermit the frog, he can keep a vaudville show going into the 2020s even though every part of the show is individually bad at their jobs.

Verrik Tethras, I think I miss spelled this, but he's the absolute voice of reason in the two dragon age games where he appears.

unnamed tachikoma/s? ghost in the shell stand alone complex season 1. friendly, curious, group of AIs, or possibly multibody single AI, willing to go rouge from safe day jobs to reunite and then sacrifice en masse to save their friends.

legion, mass effect. uniquely willing and able to bring about reconciliation between historical enemies for the good of all.

Ford prefect, because every team needs a clown.

Ghost in the Shell spoilers; re: I wrote too much about this

@001zlnv Yeah, the tachikoma are definitely in. ^___^ I boycotted the whole fucking rest of Stand Alone Complex when they were gonna lobotomize the tachikoma, and I should really go back and watch the rest now that I've heard they apparently end up fine. ^_____^

Ghost in the Shell spoilers; re: I wrote too much about this

@zebratron2084

they do sort of. although I kind of think it better to consider the season 1 tachkoma to be a different person than the season 2 and on version.

also the series kind of stops working after 2nd gig. the movies and 2045 are just not as good

Legion spoilers; re: I wrote too much about this

@001zlnv As for Legion, FUUUUUCK I thought you meant David Haller and after watching the series I was like NO NO NO NO NO, WATCH THE REST. :)

Legion spoilers; re: I wrote too much about this

@zebratron2084

re: I wrote too much about this

@001zlnv As for Kermit, that's gotta be a hard no simply because Fallout Equestria is bad enough and I am NOT fucking ready for Fallout Muppets. :p

re: I wrote too much about this

@zebratron2084

ha ha ha. to be fair, you said secret wars, so I'm expecting more kirby style cosmic BS than fallout!

also I kind of want the whole thing to play out continuing respect the fact that he's a puppet so he's always sitting, or otherwise partially obscured all the time.

re: I wrote too much about this

@001zlnv OK, Cosmic Hero Kermit is TOTALLY on point, you sold me...
