cat anxiety (~), cat ph but everybody seems ok

Peebles started panting after a strenuous play session, which is apparently not that abnormal but of course the first source I found online decided to scream IMMINENT CAT DOOM in contradiction to every single other source.

She also has a warm nose, which is apparently not a real sign of illness? And Sugarfoot was making hacky noises last night and there was a little bit of kitty barf on the porch this morning. (I won't go into the details but it evidently wasn't the "bad kind.") Also, our elderly neighbor has a tendency to leave out filthy crusted-up bowls and cans of wet food for them which is REALLY starting to annoy me.

I love these guys but lately what it's really been is an inroad for all my old hypochondria to sneak right back in the door. I had learned to deal with my own little health twitches, but worrying about THESE little dudes gets right past all my defenses.

It's gonna be like this for years before I learn to relax, isn't it.

@zebratron2084

Cats panting during/after play sessions is perfectly normal.

Warm noses is NOT a sign of catastrophy.

Cats barf. They groom themselves regularly with their scratchy tongues and swallow hair, and sometimes it does not pass through. There is not a thing you can do to stop this.

Neighbors leaving out food bowls is more than likely a kind gesture, and if the food smells bad, the cats won't likely eat any/very much of it... but the only way to completely stop that from happening is to have the cats be indoor-only.

You've got this.

Cats have many many years of survival packed into their tiny bodies. It may be weird, at times, but this is how cats do.
