random film idea, trope speculation, perhaps a prophecy, spoilers for Russian Doll
I think it's safe to say we've pretty much exhausted the basic Groundhog Day infinite timeloop trope.
So the next phase is going to be finite loops. The hero _thinks_ they're going into an inexhaustible loop, but they find out that it's decaying.
We've already seen this start to happen. Russian Doll and one of the Xmas episodes of American Dad (I know, I know) come to mind. I think there are others.
But the _next_ revisionist genre phase after that: someone else has already gotten their hands on the mechanism. The loops are handed out by some intractable authority and the protagonist must "earn" more by doing something morally compromising.
It's coming. The math is flawless. :3

As long as there is one cheap sci-fi TV series running, there will always be a Groundhog Day.

This, as a monthly stick-figure comic.
The starting plot line stays constant. The external beats that are intended to happen, happen on the same pages and in the same panel where applicable.
Each month, the panels start to slowly detatch from their static rules. They stop being rigidly ruled. They fold and flop and the side borders fizzle and pour into themselves. The pages themselves don't stick to their qvality and start to rip and buckle. Sometimes at the end of the book, sometimes the middle... rarely the starting page until the loop is nearly fully decayed.
At least one non-main character notices and grows increasingly paranoid each successive loop, but can't identify why.
