cafe music; implicit aging :)
Siouxie, B-52s, Violent Femmes, Blondie, and fucking PYLON, right in a row?!?!
Yeah. This place gets me.
re: implicit aging :), Won't get fooled again...
@Orb2069 I feel just the same way when it's a corporate environment like a supermarket. This is a local cafe with, like, free-range baristas so I think it's just a big music nerd with VERY GOOD retro tastes in this case. :D
This was some pretty deep cut stuff, too! Honestly? Any corporate entity that even knew enough about Pylon to exploit me through it will probably get what they wanted out of me, because damn, that would be some commitment to pandering. XD
re: BRANDering...
@zebratron2084 Isn't that all anyone really wants from BRAND - some nice, *committed* high quality pandering? It's like the capitalist version of feeling seen.
implicit aging :), Won't get fooled again...
@zebratron2084 I don't know if public spaces/adverts playing music I like means:
A> My cohort is 'the man' and gets to pick the music the store plays.
or
B> The Eternal Copyright thing has mashed it into the top paste layer of 'Greco-mideval-thirties' Old People Music, as a thin coat over 'Classic Rock'.
or
C> I'm the generation with disposable income now that the boomers have gone all-in on prepping for 'Helter skelter'.
