@XyzzySqrl People slag Lexx pretty hard, but it had some GLORIOUSLY bizarre ideas, one of the best space operas in terms of embracing sheer biological weirdness and states of otherness. Borderline biopunk, tragically underrated. I should watch those, thank you for reminding me I don't have 'em in my media collection anymore!
@XyzzySqrl decent rather -- i claim drunkard amnesty
@zebratron2084 -I- rag on Lexx occasionally -
(it was the show that introduced me to the idea that you can have characters that just... DIE, for no reason, and that's okay, they don't matter! and that gave me WEIRD FEELINGS about personal narrative)
- but damned if it wasn't doing some of the most creative and unusual ideas in a time when being TV sci-fi meant "What if: Foreheads, but vaguely offputting?"
I also don't view "looks like a late-90s CD ROM adventure game" as a negative anymore.
@zebratron2084 In short I think I just Was Not Ready for this as a kid but I kept watching it anyway out of a sick fascination. Now I'm older and I can watch it out of a sick fascination AND ACTUALLY GET IT.
@XyzzySqrl And yeah Kai's not just a hottie, he's ACTUALLY A PRETTY FUCKING DECEN GUY.
