It's a little clunky by today's standards, but still super immersive fun if you click with it! I hope it works for you.
Also, I highly recommend watching Sneakers (1992) before/during your playthrough, to set the mood.

@Phorm @anthracite peg, i second that, sneakers is a real good film -- tonewise it's basically, like, ghostbusters except it's cryptography instead of dead people :D

It's also a uniquely San Francisco film, which means that I am absolutely biased in its favor!!
That being said, the influences of Sneakers in Uplink are pretty obvious, and awesome. Both are great!
