one of this things I like about Dungeon Meshi is that while many things tell stories in high fantasy worlds and are inspired by tabletop games, I don't think they really try to tell stories about coming up with a clever solution to a seemingly intractable and imminent problem, as well as reacting when it invariably goes wrong
that is, what _actually_ happens in ttrpgs
I think more they are just trying to tell a story from the GM's notes, not ruined by players or bad rolls
dungeon meshi, very slight spoilers
the climactic episode of them catching back up with the red dragon that is the current last episode is such a perfect example
most of the episode is figuring out some way to fight the dragon given the limitations of their new, setting up for that fight, and how they react to the things that go wrong
me and my friend watching joked about how much it resembled some of our games complete with bad rolls and good rolls and poorly thought out mistakes
it's good
@chimerror I'm pretty sure Orange Stake is illegal under the Geneva Conventions and I do intend to seek legal counsel, if you'd like to join me at The Hague. >_<
@zebratron2084 I still haven't tried the stakes yet; they look hard and trying different decks first is more fun
my old roommate managed to clear orange stake but was similarly frustrated by it
