I heard a static crackle from my desk, saw a shimmer: a manuscript materialised.
The first thing I saw was a red stamp: REJECTED.
The second was my name, and a date five years from now.
The third, the title: "Temporal typography".
The fourth, a scribble in my own hand: "try now".

from one of my partners:

>im considering gcs, currently talking to insurance about it, i know youve looked into that stuff at least a little bit (for nonstandard iirc), any resources or hidden secrets or anything i should look up or know?

I dunno if I have anything in particular to say there but she lives in Seattle WA.

do any of y'all have assorted Knowledge you'd like to share with someone who's scared and confused?

Also, here's a holy shit moment for you. The author of Animorphs apparently has some pretty amazing things to say.

Still feeling absolutely horrible. Had an email that said not to worry about stuff yesterday, but I still just want to hide forever. >.<

Gah. So tired. Been sleeping half the evening, and just endless nightmares. Why??? >.<

Huh. Friend was posting about interesting statistics, and it caused me to glance through my Goodreads ones. Apparently I just cracked 500 lifetime books read this week. Feels low, but at the same time, that's a fucking lot of books.

anyone who thinks "I should get better at X before I let people see/hear/etc it publicly" should go look at the beginning of Jeph Jacques' Questionable Content

I so want to do this!! redd.it/e666fq

One of the great things humans do is integrate knowledge in new and unexpected ways, making connections between things that seem counterintuitive at first but obvious in hindsight
however
the main mechanism for integrating knowledge is low-stress activity, doings that at first glance seem non-productive but which in aggregate helps put things in perspective

So if you've ever felt guilt for taking a whole day off to wander aimlessly through a local nature preserve:
don't

it's important work

Holy moly, I did not remember this quote about the reign of terror, but Mark Twain hits it on the head with a fucking /sledgehammer/. goodreads.com/quotes/989759-th

TIL Arista documents how to add custom commands to their switch CLI, which is written in Python? arista.com/assets/data/pdf/Whi

And I have to put a second book on your to-read lists tonight. I just finished goodreads.com/book/show/343710, which is the third book in The Sacred Throne Trilogy, and I am sitting here and holding, and hurting.

US Politics (odd, probably -)

If so, that'd probably be a really really sad thought. :(

US Politics (odd, probably -)

I just had a weird thought. I wonder if President Obama ever wonders if it wouldn't have been better for him never to have been president (or to have been single-term), if only to prevent Trump coming to power. (This thought brought on by Youtube suggesting ERB's Obama vs. Romney rap.)

(This brought to you by Zeta wondering why on earth she's posting so much the last couple days.)

Also, man, it's been a long time since I've felt this good. Know I'm still on the tail end of the flu, but the time off work it resulted in (in combination with the holiday) have really fucking helped. O.o;

It’s so cozy!! The warm lights are critical to the vibe ❤️ all the major furniture is in... I’ve got a couple of my consoles hooked back up...
