people are talking about turnips a lot and it's made us realize
i don't think we've ever eaten a turnip, or seen a recipe that involved them
what are they used for?
@Felthry I think a lot of sugar is made from turnips
@noiob you're thinking of the sugar beet, I think
@Felthry yeah, I'm not super good with that kinda vocabulary in English 😄
@noiob that's fine! we're not good at any kind of vocabulary in german so you're better at this than we are
@Felthry maybe I'm thinking of a different root vegetable
@Felthry I’ve eaten macedonias with turnips in them as a kid, but I didn’t like them much
@a_breakin_glass @Felthry lmao (yall probably know but it’s a term for salads composed of various small pieces of vegetable or fruit, I think the ones I ate the most were with peas, carrots, green beans and turnips)
@Siphonay @a_breakin_glass actually, I personally have never heard the term before!
@Siphonay @a_breakin_glass (we were able to guess it was some kind of food though, of course)
@Siphonay don't eat macedonia! people live there!
@Felthry they can be used for soups or stews. But they’re also used for animal feed.
