food, invitation for responses
I am curious and would like to hear from the fediverse: what is your favorite bread? In fact, let's split it up: what's your favorite homemade kind of bread, and what's your favorite store-bought kind?

re: food, invitation for responses
@Felthry I don't get to enjoy homemade bread too often, so I can't really answer that so much, but my favorite store bought kind is King's Hawaiian (or similar) because it's got a nice sweet flavor to it
re: food, invitation for responses
@Kilroy Hawaiian bread is really good.... It's a favorite to make sandwiches on, though we use store brand hawaiian because king's is super expensive
sometimes also brioche if we can get it--actual brioche, not whatever it is that people call "brioche buns" for hamburgers

re: food, invitation for responses
@Felthry Agreed. I usually don't get King's brand myself, due to price, but I wasn't sure what the specific bread was called. Actual brioche is pretty good, too!
re: food, invitation for responses
@Kilroy If you ever just want some hawaiian bread and are willing to bake some yourself, this recipe is pretty great!

@Facet Good choices! We don't get to have banana bread as much as I'd like.... Should fix that.

@Felthry Never had homemade bread so couldn't say
Store bought they do basically tiger bread with salt and pepper on top and I love dipping that in stews etc :9
re: food, invitation for responses
@DarkOverord I don't think i've ever heard of tiger bread!

re: food, invitation for responses
@Felthry It's basically a white loaf but the crust on top cracks lol
re: food, invitation for responses
@DarkOverord ooh, neat!

re: food, invitation for responses
@DarkOverord those look VERY nice
re: food, invitation for responses
@sharkNserg they're tasty :9
I also learned today they're Dutch in origin haha
Makes sense British breads are mostly boring thanks to WW2 lol
re: food, invitation for responses
@Felthry That totally counts as bread!
re: food, invitation for responses
@Felthry And we didn't even think of those, /yum/. :3
re: food, invitation for responses
@Felthry Hmm.... for storebought, possibly bagels!
homemade... not sure! Fresh bread of any sort is absolutely wonderful.
re: food, invitation for responses
@Felthry I think it's hard to beat good bagels among the breads we've purchased; I feel like we've yet to eat our favorite among home-cooked breads.

food, invitation for responses
Favorite homemade - anything in the popover/Yorkshire Pudding/Dutch baby/German oven pancake genre. Very wet and eggy dough that rises via steam, good with jam or as a side to a hearty meal.
Favorite storebought: egg bagels, which have been weirdly hard to find lately but are my favorite flavor. Good with plain cream cheese, even better with smoked salmon.
Considering the above, I may just like eggs.
re: food, invitation for responses
our answers to this would probably be.... Hawaiian bread homemade (we found a really good recipe once), and either bagels or pretzels store-bought
like, soft pretzels, not the hard ones. that counts as bread right?
