apparently it's now illegal to give water ("food or drink", specifically) to people standing in line to vote in georgia, and holy fuck are the arguments people make in favor of this law obnoxious
the only one that makes any sense is the idea that people could be giving out free food to encourage people to vote for a particular candidate but that... kinda doesn't make sense? if you give someone a slice of pizza without anything on it or you about any particular candidate (because that's already, and probably rightly, illegal), how is that going to influence your vote one way or the other?
i see someone saying "of course they don't claim any political affiliation but come on, they're liberals" as if that has any bearing on things?? that sounds more like an attack on the conservatives than anything, with the implied "conservatives would never give out free things"
also seeing people trying to spin lower voter turnout (from people having to leave the line to get a drink) as a good thing??? something about encouraging only the most educated people to vote which 1) yikes elitism and 2) uhhh how does education have anything to do with getting thirsty

re: uspol
@Felthry the fact that people have to wait in lines that long to vote is atrocious to begin with, the longest I've waited to vote was maybe five minutes
