i appreciate it when people actually know what an IEC 60320 C13 plug is called instead of calling it whatever they feel like calling it

this is what it looks like by the way, you probably know it but not by name
the end that's on the device it plugs into is called a C14, but i don't know why the plug and receptacle can't share a number

you are probably also familiar with the C7 connector (aka "figure 8 connector") and its grounded variant C5 (we've heard that one called a "mickey mouse plug" for its shape)

@starkatt The standard one on the device end of various things, computers and computer monitors are probably the most familiar ones it's used in but you see it in lots of things

@Felthry yeah, those are the three we know - we only ever heard them called appliance plugs so we didn't know their standard name!

@Felthry I know them colloquially as "power cables that breed in the dark" or "wait how do I have a ton more of these than devices I've ever bought?"
by calling it its proper name i mean calling it something like "C13" or "IEC C13", there's no need to remember that it's part of IEC standard 60320
