tell me about your favorite spice blends! whether that be some established mixture like chinese five-spice or just some combination you made up that you like to put in stuff you make

@Felthry I like my chili blend! Very basic foundation of 3 spices (2 tablespoons of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1 teaspoon of cumin for ratios) so I don't have to spend a fortune getting chili mixes. Works great on its own, or can be added to for more flavors! And since I can get either regular or hot cumin and chili powder, I can adjust the heat without resorting to adding peppers (which I sometimes do anyway because extra bite :D)

@Kilroy That seems like a good mixture, though I'm a bit surprised at just how little cumin you put in there compared to the chili powder! But I guess we just really like cumin.

I'd say putting in some peppers anyway is probably a good call, though--fresh peppers have some flavor you just can't get from chili powder.

@Felthry Oh agreed on the peppers. Plus if you add them towards the end of the cooking cycle they give such a nice crunch. But yeah I could probably tweak the recipe some more; I studied a bunch of chili recipes and that seemed to be the general ratio people go with.

@Kilroy We just like that tex-mex flavor you get from having extra cumin, I think!
