discourse - reverse racism
I mean... I guess the simplest explanation is just... Look. It's not the same. The threats aren't the same on both sides.
"Get a thicker skin" is sent to people receiving literal death threats aimed at them based on circumstances of birth
"Don't treat all of us like some of us treat you" is sent to people sending out very general complaints based on lived experiences and behaviors of others.
Like... I'm not sure how else it can be described.

And I want you to look at that carefully!!!! Do you see how I even word the side I don't agree with? How careful I am not to strawman? I make you sound reasonable! I differentiate between "actively harmful" and "unintentionally harmful". That doesn't stop the harm, but I still do recognize the attempt. I do!! But you need to pay more attention. You need to stop making these comparisons. Please.

@BigFatFae I really like that about mastodon too. I am in no way eloquent and the goings-on in politics lately has me far too... broken? to even try to participate in anything like that. And I know it might sound bad of me to say it but I am glad that the way I learn about things like this is by seeing people complaining about it, rather than angry people yelling at each other over it. I don't even know what it's about this time, and I don't know if I want to know.

@Felthry It's tough, sometimes. And we're so inundated with the negativity sometimes that it can be overwhelming. It's alright to need a break. It's alright to need to step back. And it's alright to learn from other people's words. If they help you to take care of yourself and your impact on others? Then that sounds ideal to me.
