@Oneironott Thinking about neat rocks has me again disappointed that copper(II) sulfate is water-soluble because that would make really pretty gems.
@Felthry Ohhhh gosh, yes. So blue <3 <3 <3 I actually really like that idea as a sort of modified gemstone for accessories. Perhaps faceted in a tail bangle :O
@Oneironott You could probably cut it in a low-water environment and then encase it in some other protective material but that would be Hard. and since copper sulfate is, well, very far from expensive, I imagine people in general wouldn't find it worth it since it wouldn't be a rare gem or anything

Copper makes so many very pretty blues and greens. The beauty of chemistry! It's part of why I almost went into chemical engineering instead of electrical (but the reason of "aaaaa this stuff is so dangerous" to not go into it was a bit stronger)
@Felthry I really enjoyed taking chemistry as much as I did, but I'm not sure I like it enough to do anything with it for a career ^_^ It is absolutely fascinating though
@Oneironott I'd love to take more chemistry classes... unfortunately I can't really do that, because I didn't take enough as an undergraduate to be able to do anything significant as a graduate student and taking an undergraduate chemistry course would be expensive and not give me anything towards my degree.
