I am curious. I know I asked a couple times already but I didn't get a super clear answer: does anyone know exactly what birdsite did to trigger this influx of new users?
@vahnj Huh. That's a bit of a draconian policy, unless they were actually being abusive by swearing at people or something. Ah well. I guess I won't look further into it because it's probably a recipe for anxiety and I need to beat back my natural curiosity.
@Felthry One of the more significant incidents was the banning of LGBT voice https://twitter.com/meakoopa for telling off folks who were mocking the pulse massacre.
This is just one of many recent examples of the extreme political right abusing Twitter's anti-harassment tools to more effectively harass people. There were also several reports of holocaust deniers getting jews and their allies banned in similar circumstances.
It was enough to prove to many that Twitter isn't their friend.
