Says something that while I lived in Alameda there’d be whole weekends I’d at most drive to hang out at Park Street Peets and I’d spend hours at home doing fuck-all, but now that I live in Oakland I drive to South Bay or the peninsula every weekend day to save my declining sanity.
@catterfly but, the transbay bus lines were there and getting to Fruitvale or 12th Street was easy enough- I’d way rather have to do the extra bus ride than hear BART screeching away, from my room. This sucks. Moving here was one of the worst mistakes I’ve made in my entire life.
@Leucrotta the 51a/b lines were excellent, tbh, and the ox was Comfy...
i feel you, though. i recently moved to a place with pretty much no public transportation (thanks NH..), and it's dire. i was hoping i'd be able to get out more here, but it turns out even hayward was better than this.....
@Leucrotta Heh! When I was living in the South Bay, I was always hightailing it up to Berkeley and the City. =:)
Maybe try Tilden as a good getaway? No need to drive - the 67 from the downtown Berkeley BART takes you to the entrance (and in, on the weekends). Quite a few footpaths and trails there, from paved to precarious. ^_^
@porsupah Ugh. I don't want to go into Berkeley at all, I hate that place. I'm sure it's a lovely forest but I'd rather feel like I'm getting somewhere under my own power without being trapped in this horrible part of the Bay.
@Leucrotta the ex-alameda mood tbh. i miss that everything was Right There, except for bart and some other stuff
