re: booze, GoodBad television, kink-adjacent
@zebratron2084 I can easily spot the part of the intro that matches what I know about you but uh, also this is making me miss the 90s, when it's a pretty good example of "the 90s weren't all that great you know."
re: booze, GoodBad television, kink-adjacent
@zebratron2084 when I first started doing art, everyone I looked up to worked in animation in SoCal, maybe Vancouver or Toronto - this was the sort of content they were making at day jobs and the stuff I thought I might make, someday when I was good enough. I was such an earnest schmo! And then of course there wasn't animation in North America anymore, just layout and storyboard jobs.
But that makes seeing stuff like this is a little wistful.
Peg probably would have more of an opinion about this (she was one of the "everyone I looked up to"), but it feels like the 90s in cartoons were weirdly transitional between the 80s and 2000s. Like they largely hadn't figured out storywriting for children other than they knew they didn't want to just sell toys.
re: booze, GoodBad television, kink-adjacent
@Leucrotta Right? I actually remember it being funny and well-written, but... I mean... I was like 15 ffs. None of the other shows I liked from them have exactly aged well. I used to love the ALF cartoon, which I'm pretty sure was by largely the same crew, and I just couldn't go back to it. Too much 80s guy hero "HAHA I"M RADICAL" stuff that just reads as kinda... Poochie-adjacent these days.
