There have only *theoretically* been two half elves in middle earth ever (JRRT leaves this teaser there may have been more), and Elrond's half brother went "naw, I like humans a lot, have fun being willowy and tragic in the forests guys" and it's from *him* Aragorn's descended.

Admittedly in the books Elrond doesn't think humans are a virus or whatever.

But do you think he'd've been so reluctant to get involved in the War of the Ring if he hadn't been thinking that since Isuldur borked it up at the end of the Last Alliance war? (also, why didn't he just knock Isildur tf out and dump the ring in himself? He's so much stronger in will and body than men, who are weak, yeah?)
