I’m convinced that, had he lived longer, Lovecraft would have eventually had friends who were Black, and also would’ve completely not understood why saying the most horrifyingly racist shit upset them.

@chimerror he was drifting left - like he was enthusiastically pro New Deal, and being friends with REH was huge for him cause Howard was *Irish* American. But he wasn’t that tactful, and I vaguely remember at one point he told his wife how much he liked Mein Kampf, etc…

@Leucrotta So I can't find the exact details, but he kind of mellowed out a bit into more "regular" racist, and seemed very aware of how his anti-semitism would offend his Jewish friends, so some what...
