Shameful postfurry kink confession
Shiny latex is a pretty siginificant turnoff for me. It sets off some spectrumy sensory aversion stuff just thinking about it.
Matte latex and neoprene are neutral/sometimes-good though.
Plush fur is a huge positive and it's really frustrating that everyone's first conception of 'toy' in a postfurry context is shiny rubber.
(This isn't apropos of any particular thing BTW, other than a neutral/positive conversation I'm having in another window right now)

@indi FWIW, I consider plushies to be a pretty integral part of postfurry. Basically any kink that is not strictly possible in a pre-transhuman world is "on the postfurry spectrum."
Rubber is integral for me too, but it's not for ideological reasons, it's for aesthetic and my own crazy neurological reasons. (I don't like reminders of organic stuff, because of my own body issues.) I like how it smooths out the "jaggedness" skin-to-skin touch has for me...

@indi But, I mean, you've met some of the august citizens of Plushistan (and the Underbed exclave, but that's a complicated political issue right now).
And of course, I need not mention that even mighty Rezeya St. Hobbes of the Martian Hordes is, legendarily, a quarter plush on her grandfather's side. <3
Srsly, I think the idea of animate plushies is absolutely fundamental to the everyday animism of postfurry. Officially approved. 👍❤️

@zebratron2084 Thank you, it's really nice to hear this, and it is interesting to see folks talk about rubber that way too, especially in light of it sorta doing the exact opposite for me, sensory-wise. I certainly hope we can continue to have folks who are interested in all the wide spectrum of options when it comes to synthetic bodies. ;)

@indi @zebratron2084 *ahem* I believe the current vernacular noise is "HRRRNGH!", and sweatdrop emojis. o.O
