Music, Spirituality
It's no wonder music is so a part of my spirituality. I was amazed and in love with music's paintings since I could understand the concepts. I was listening in the car seeing vast scenarios playing out like it were second nature.
Then you have this special sort of ambient downtempo that is seemingly focused on being atmospheric, and focused on capturing that moment, somehow, through melody and patterning that invokes things as deep as our ancestry.
Music, Spirituality
@Oneironott I think it's because music is one of those things that we as a species had before we had cities and civilizations and in some cases sophisticated language. Music is primal and emotional. It is able to bypass the noisy monkey greymatter and speak to what Neal Stephenson called "the deep structures" of the brain that underlie cognition.
Music, Spirituality
And why? why does music exist, and has existed for so many millennia. Seemingly, for joy. connection, empathy, emotion.
sorrow. happiness. nostalgia. saudade.
anger, silliness, laughter, celebration.
Sound to heart, bringing emotions, patterns, tone, timber, note, and more sparking associations. the weather, the setting, the emotions. sometimes the serenity.
