postal misgenderings
Welp, I've hit the point now where seeing mail marked "Mr" with my name on it makes me want to drop the letter directly into the garbage. So... that's a thing I guess.
postal misgenderings
@Altivo Okay, yes, but when you get one for Miss, Mrs, or Ms, does it make you feel kinda shitty or do you just laugh it off?
postal misgenderings
@Soreth Mostly I laugh. But I'm gender anomalous rather than feeling strongly about it. I understand your reaction, I just wanted to point out that these things come from ignorance more than anything else.
postal misgenderings
@Soreth I still get a bunch of mail with my dead name, and same sort of reaction.
postal misgenderings
@emanate Sucks. :/
postal misgenderings
@Soreth Nothing new about misgendering there. I've received mail with Mr, Miss, Mrs, Ms, and even the occasional Dr or Prof for decades. People with non-gender specific first names or who use just initials see even more of it. Mine appears to come from having interests (sewing, knitting, cooking) that have long been considered gender specific by certain unenlightened types, and a pink collar career (librarian.) I imagine male nurses often have similar experiences.
