question for you veteran Tooters. I have noticed a trend where the CW line is used mostly as a subject line instead of its original use as a CW for potentially upsetting toots. is using it as a subject line now or commonly appropriate?

@Heffboom_Konijn Not really sure; that seems to vary per user. Certainly usage has gotten muddled. :-/

Bun opinion on CW use

@emanate @Heffboom_Konijn I wouldn’t say that it’s usage has gotten muddled, honestly.

If a CW helps someone not look at something that upsets them, then it is helpful. Could be long posts about a topic a person finds that causes anxiety, but is still positive (such as con experiences when one couldn’t go). Could be for more traditional reasons.

The jokes and the memes that use them are silly, but I have yet to run into any that really cross a line for me.

@KoBunny @emanate @Heffboom_Konijn someone using a CW as a "this is a harmless joke thing you should click/LOL TRIGGER BAIT" trick would earn an instant unfollow, mute, and block from me. I haven't seen it done that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's common usage on instances that aren't federated with the ones I use for Very Good Reasons. :|

@green @KoBunny @emanate @Heffboom_Konijn Yeah. Haven't seen this either personally, but then this instance avoids federating with the places where such a thing would be particularly likely to happen.
