dissociating in a discord vc with a bunch of transfem ppl who work food service is wild

the midwest is just so... spread out, in a way that makes connections feel thin and thready, and everything blunted, like the feeling of pulling into a gas station in the middle of the country at 3am after leaving a family gathering you didn't want to be at

it's the thick emotional blanket of fuzz behind your eyes, like a storm rolling in, when all you can do with your friends is go to the nearest target and hang out

it's the way that every square mile has been habited but in the most peculiarly depressing ways, the spreading of needless human nonsense over the land in a dedensification of people, splitting them apart and putting everyone on the edge of someone elses' horizon

@er1n it's definitely different than the intermountain west, which is spread thin in a different way: lot's of national forest and blm ranch land, and just plain high mountain desert separating towns a hundred miles a part in some cases.

lots of gatherings in the woods near campgrounds.
