@typhlosion I'm curious, if you're comfortable discussing it.
Discourse
@literorrery @typhlosion Same.
Discourse
@mawr @typhlosion @literorrery also same? (I don't even know what "Discourse" is, if it's a platform or group or what)
@typhlosion @literorrery @green As for this particular example of The Discourse, as far as I can tell, it appears someone was announcing to all of Mastodon that awoo.space is a toxic problematic dumpster fire full of terrible people or something.
We all know that isn't true. But some people just assume the worst. I mean, there are people who think I'm some kind of manipulative narcissist thirsty for power.
Everything we know about anyone else is a narrative. Some narratives are BS.
@mawr @typhlosion @literorrery and *wow* that article hits it on the nose, for me. especially when people are upset, or hurt, and trying to figure out what to do about it--it's so damn easy to blame someone, and it's the kind of situation that some people take advantage of instinctively, acting as pointers for the blame. and then mobbing happens and ugh. UGH.
why are people
how do human
@green @literorrery @typhlosion I wrote a thing about this (larger) problem a while back.

I've watched this tear communities apart so many times; one side builds a narrative to frame failed attempts at positive action as intentionally malicious acts, the narrative divides a community and people continue on their separate ways.
It's just part of life, I guess. I just wish it'd stop tearing my friends apart.
