honestly "uses military grade encryption" as part of a websites ad copy will never stop being funny

icosahedron dot website uses military grade encryption btw

so does my personal website. probably harder to find a website that does NOT use military-grade encryption in 2020

@halcy it's like "aircraft-grade aluminium" yeah that's just the one kind of aluminium everyone uses

@noiob @halcy actually i think aircraft-grade aluminum refers to 7075 alloy, while the most common alloy you'll find in stuff is 6061 alloy (which is easier to work but not as strong)

@Felthry @halcy it's not a well-defined term, it's being used for both

@noiob @halcy since that's specifically the aluminum they use in aircraft

@Felthry @halcy just googling the term shows me multiple cases of people using it to refer to 6061, and I'm pretty sure that aircrafts have many parts that don't all use the same aluminium

@noiob @halcy true; 7075 or similar alloys are, as far as we're aware, preferred for structural elements thouhg

@Felthry I don't think marketers care whether the material was used for the rudder or the cup holder, it's aircraft-grade either way
