I wish more tech folks understood that the only thing "just learn to code" as a response to class inequities will actually fix is the hardness of the tech labor market that we generally benefit from
and further the ability and time _to_ learn to code is not just a trivial thing to ask people who are already being ground under their jobs and wider society
I love teaching people to code, my job here at a coding bootcamp is the only job I've been positive about and I do think as long as that hard labor market remains it will help folks in material ways
but we literally have an admissions process that is stringent and we have limited resources so for me to glibly imply it's a full solution would be smug incorrect bullshit
I can tell you our students are still often struggling to even be able to fully comprehend our teaching because of shit in their lives including still having other jobs
it's not easy or simple even given the opportunity and it's insulting to imply it is
