@noiob @cinnamon but for realsies, i find root is mostly for changing the system itself, rather than everyday interaction with it--and if you do need to do something that needs elevated privileges, usually user groups or isolated programs that ask for passwords themselves (and immediately drop them after) are a great way to not have footguns scattered everywhere

tl;dr - the less you touch root, the better, and finding ways to do what you need without it is suuuper-duper worth it to avoid oops
