-sigh- this timeline sucks
@saintajax33 I believe those are specifically for tourists in places like Cuzco who are unused to the altitude. But certainly they'd sell us the air we breath if they thought they could get away with it.
@avon_deer @saintajax33 I started seeing those around when the pandemic went into full swing, was always curious about them but never bought one.
@RabbaRab @avon_deer the altitude thing makes sense, but I nowhere that high up.
@saintajax33 @RabbaRab Yes..at lower altitude cities it IS basically just a gimmick.
@saintajax33 @RabbaRab i have never been to Bolivia or Peru but I suspect if I did I'd prefer the local remedy for altitude sickness; cocaine tea.
@saintajax33 those are not for bad atmosphere the way the air cans in Space Balls were. Instead they were invented for climbing but later marketed for exercise in general. I know because I watched a Shark Tank episode that explained them.

@saintajax33 first image is an advertising display case for Boost Oxygen, compressed cans of oxygen for breathing purposes
second image is scene from Spaceballs where the bad guy is breathing from a soda can labeled Perri-Air
@saintajax33 well, shit
there goes the planet
@saintajax33 I wonder how thick those bottles are, pure oxygen is pretty dangerous
