what's the gender neutral version of prince/princess? scion, perhaps?

"Heir" perhaps, but I think you'd end up creating a neologism like "emperox" in Scalzi's Collapsing Empire novels, or acquiring a loan word from a different language. Look into the etymology of prince/princess to see if an alternative suggests itself?
