if theres anyone who plays slay the spire, my partner published their first mod character for that game: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles go check it out if you want to

@typhlosion Looks cool, unfortunately crashed badly for me. Severe UI-obfuscating particle effects and a crash bad enough I couldn't close Mod The Spire and had to reboot. When I have more time later in the week I might be able to get more details!

@typhlosion Nothing important in terms of other open apps or lost data! In terms of what I'd been doing in the Widow mod, it was 1st turn, hadn't played a single card successfully-- the cards were barely visible behind some kind of glow/particle effect and weren't racking up correctly after being deselected.

@zebratron2084 that's really odd. ive watched them play games as widow and nothing like that ever happened to them; i wonder if there's just some difference in configuration or something that's failing to be accounted for. i'm passing all this along to them so they can look into it

@typhlosion This is *extremely* likely. I have a lot of other mods, though the only ones I _think_ were running were BaseMod and STSLib. Looks like everything's up to date! I'm gonna give it another shot.

@typhlosion Here's a screenshot of the weird effects I was getting. It wouldn't let me target the enemy with cards, either. Hope that helps! I can give it another shot later and try to get the debug log.

@zebratron2084 wave is having trouble replicating the problem. maybe make sure other mods are disabled for the time being and start another run? ahh i wish there was something more concrete than that

@zebratron2084 THEY FOUND THE ISSUE it involved having particle effects disabled in settings, fix is forthcoming

@typhlosion No time for a full game atm but it does seem to work now! ^__^

first-run impressions

@typhlosion nvm, work got boring :D

* i liked that they're upgrade-themed and i especially like the elegance of wrapping that up in the Beta(+) mechanic-- always felt like cards like Searing Blow weren't really practical in the main build, loving getting to see a multi-upgrade path finally be worthwhile

* spider dance plus caught can get really scary -- i'm a little concerned about how fast it killed the guardian, since i was NOT playing my best game and the only rares/relics i had going for me were 2x injection

* shock-leap might need to be toned down a little, perhaps to a 3? i feel like i got ludicrous block numbers out of just that and commons, and the widow already gets such an amazing number of things that can scale...

* i never took scrapped, felt a little too situational, am curious if they've ever gotten any serious mileage out of it in playtest and how-- i'm JUST getting started, though, and i do already see Widow has some cards that give weak/vulnerable to EVERYONE

* ok yeah, i also just saw metal burrs so yeah, i'm assuming there's more to this theme i haven't seen yet

* yeah, one-turned stabbybook with spider dance and a surprisingly low number of caught stacks, i'm really starting to get concerned that this just scales way too fast

* all in all, this was really fun and i love the theme and core mechanics -- i do really think there are a lot of different fast-scaling mechanics piling together here, and they probably need to be clipped back a bit-- again, this was a deck of almost all commons-- but this was very promising and i think after some balancing work it could easily go toe-to-toe with the really top stuff like the downfall boss-character mod, LOVE having upgrades as a core mechanic

re: first-run impressions

@typhlosion oh and this is the song i was listening to during the playtest, i feel that this is very important :D

@typhlosion follow up, i've been having a great time with it, 5th or 6th playthrough now and i'm less worried about the scaling issues, they seem to smooth out a lot after the first act. just loving some of these mechanics, favorite card so far is Module "X"...

@zebratron2084 @typhlosion hi!!!! thank you so much for playing it!! i'm really glad you're having fun with it

@typhlosion no problem, i love spire and am excited to give this another shot!
