@chimerror @KitRedgrave many of the slang terms or other specialty terms for coffee (e.g. java, mocha) come from places where coffee was originally sourced; as the economy became more global, these terms entered the lexicon not as interesting places in their own right, but as the source of goods
anyway they call it java because look what it fucking started, now everything is ruined
