i want a really opinionated weather app. don't give me "Overcast" or "Scattered showers," give me "Dreary as shit. Real soggy toast vibes out there"
@Nine @typhlosion brass monkey?
@Ronflaix @typhlosion don't understand the etymology ...entymology??... fuckin'...
I don't get the original meaning and context of the phrase "brass monkeys" but it's south england slang for "really cold and windy out and you definitely want a coat and/or scarf/gloves"
@typhlosion @Ronflaix ah thank you! I forget which way those go around.
@Nine @typhlosion just imagining monkeys going bonkers on trumpets, tooting the wind directly to you.
@Ronflaix @typhlosion ...well, I didn't imagine that before, but I WILL be from now on because that is fabulous and I love it
@Nine @typhlosion *something something cold wind something artic monkeys*
@typhlosion The sky above the port is going to be the colour of television, tuned to a dead channel
@typhlosion I recall DogeWeather having a bit of personality to it, although most of that was along the lines of 'wow, such snow'. Don't know whether it's still there (I just got a 502 error trying, but that could be anything) or whether it's turned bad.
@typhlosion there was a cute weather app called Poncho which had a bunch of weird anecdotes and opinions about your weather, sadly it was shut down but I still have it installed lol
@Ninji @typhlosion Seconding CARROT. It's great.
@typhlosion looking up a weather app on my phone and seeing "fuckin brass monkeys out there, mate" is definitely far more evocative and tangibly understandable than "-2 degrees with a sse wind of 45 mph with 5% humidity"
